We at
Zion Lutheran Church
Believe
the mission of God is to reveal
His righteousness to the
world through. . His
Word
|
|
-
We
believe that the entire
Bible is the Word of God, recorded for us by the
prophets and apostles through the inspiration of
God’s Holy Spirit. God reveals Himself to us through
His Word and His message is clear: He
is a Righteous
God
who
hates sin,
but is also
a
God
of
Love
who sent Jesus, His
Son, to save us from the punishment of sin.
He is One God who exists in three distinct persons:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He
created us, redeemed us from sin, and through the work
of His Holy Spirit, gives us faith to believe in Him.
-
The
Bible is the only source, foundation and guide for our
Christian confession, faith and life.
We
are a BIBLE-BASED
congregation.
|
|
.
. . His Son. . .
|
|
-
We
believe that even before the foundation of the
world, God had his plan to reconcile the world to
Himself through Jesus
Christ. The
prophecies and events recorded in the Old Testament
point to Jesus, God’s Son, who would become
the sacrificial lamb that would atone for the sins of
the world.
Jesus:
by His life, perfectly satisfied all the
demands of God’s Law…By His suffering and death on
the cross, suffered the wrath of God for the sins of
all people…By His resurrection from the dead, Jesus
sealed His victory over sin, death, and the devil and
guarantees that everyone who believes in Him has
eternal life.
We
are a CHRIST-CENTERED
congregation.

.
. . His Sacraments. . .
|
|
-
We
believe that God, by the power of the Holy
Spirit-calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the
whole Christian church on earth, and keeps it with
Jesus Christ in the one true faith. He does this
through His Word and the Sacraments of Baptism,
The Lord's Supper and Holy Absolution, the
means of His grace, by which He comes to His people to
forgive sins and to create and nourish saving faith.
We
are a SACRAMENTAL
congregation.
|
|
.
. . His People. . .
|
|
-
We
believe, therefore we speak! We believe and
publicly confess that we are sinful and in need of a
Savior and that Jesus, God’s Son, is that
Savior who forgives our sins. We
reverently worship God with Orders of Service that are
based on the Scriptures, placing a strong emphasis on
the proclamation of the Gospel message.
We
are a CONFESSIONAL
congregation.

. . His Unconditional Love. . .
|
|
-
Jesus
said, “As the Father has loved me, so I have
loved you. Now remain in my love. If
you obey my commands, you will live in my love, just
as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in
His love. I
have told you this so that my joy may be in you and
that your joy may be complete. My command is this:
Love each other as I have loved you. Greater
love has no one than this, that he lay down his life
for his friends.” John
15:10-13
-
We
believe that we can experience no greater joy than to
be showing love to others in response to God’s Love
for us.
We
are a GRACE-MOTIVATED congregation.
|
|
.
. . His Radiant Light. . .
|
|
We
are a MISSION-MINDED congregation
taking
seriously the commission to bring the
light
of Christ to the world.

Mission
of Zion Lutheran church:
|
|
(Back

|
|
God has called
us to know Christ Jesus, as our Savior and Lord. . . and
to make Him known to everyone we interact with.
|
|
To
Know Christ…
…is to have an intimate relationship with Him.
|
-
This
is possible through the work of God's Holy spirit, who
calls us to faith in God's Son, Jesus Christ as our
Lord and Savior, through God's Word (Bible) and
Sacraments (Baptism, Lord's Supper & Absolution)
thereby making us members of God's family and children
of the Heavenly Father. This
relationship is strengthened when we read and study
God’s Word daily because:
-
In
God's Word, we learn of His great love for us in the
promises of a Savior's coming and the fulfillment of
those promises in God's own Son, Jesus Christ--His
birth, life on earth, death and resurrection for the
forgiveness of our sins, and His ascension into
heaven. Through faith in Jesus Christ we have
the assurance of a heavenly home prepared us.
-
In
God's Word, Jesus promises us that He will hear our
prayers and never leave nor forsake those who call on
His name.
-
In
God's Word, we are encouraged, as members of His
adopted family, to gather together regularly: to
hear his word proclaimed, to receive forgiveness for
our sins through the Sacraments , and to be built up
by the spiritual gifts of fellow Christians.

|
|
To
Make Him Known…
…is to share Jesus Christ, God’s gift of LOVE
to everyone.
|
|
-
What we have been given is a GIFT
that is to be shared with everyone with whom we come
in contact: our friends, our relatives, our
co-workers, and our neighbors. This gift was given so
that ALL PEOPLE may KNOW Jesus
Christ as their Savior and Lord, receive from Him the
forgiveness of their sins and become a part of His
adopted family.

The
Significance of the Name - ZION
|
|
|
|
-
The
word Zion comes from the Old Testament and
refers to the city of David where the temple of the
Lord was to be built.
We read in the Psalms, references to Zion
as “a holy hill" "the resting place of
God," "the Lord’s sanctuary,"
"the house of the Lord” Psalm
2, 48, 50, 76.
The New Testament refers to Zion as the
Holy City of God where all will come and worship
Jesus, "The Lamb of God, who takes away the sin
of the world" John 1:29;
Revelation 5:12; 14:1-7.
-
The
word Zion reminds us that we will someday be in
heaven in the company of the saints, praising our Lord
and Savior, Jesus Christ.
However, we don’t have to wait until then to
praise Him. Every time we gather together to
worship the Lord, we can be sure that He is present.
Jesus has given us this promise, “Where
two or three have come together in My name, I am there
among them.” Matthew 18:20
